We personally styled each of the 190 rooms with vintage Arizona Highways magazines, old cameras, Mexican blankets and other trinkets with a distinctively desert vibe.
3. SETTING THE MOOD
We created a playlists for the lobby, bars, restaurants and pool, creating the perfect vibe for lounging, socializing, indulging and even dancing. We chose a signature scent that immediately transported guests to the desert southwest. We displayed succulents in unique, instagrammable ways and scoured vintage shops for old copies of Arizona Highways and western novellas for an entertaining kitsch factor.
2. CREATING A VOICE
Saguaro visitor guides and weekly “things to do” sheets gave guests the inside track of the goings-on in town and ways to connect to the city.
We capitalized on some of the hotel strengths (an Iron Chef and an amazing pool/patio area) and created some specialized events. Old Town Whiskey bar offered a monthly Whiskey school (before that sort of thing became popular) and the Sunday pool party became the local hipster summer hangout thanks to mermaids and synchronized swimmers who captivated guests (and provided ample vacation photo ops).
