I’m constantly being inspired by my surroundings, and when there’s something that I really love……here’s a peek at what I’ve been obsessing over lately:

Wake up. Kick ass. Be kind. Repeat.

Wake up. Kick ass. Be kind. Repeat.

1.    Coffee and affirmations

Rille & Co. thinks everyone deserves a little lift with their morning coffee, which is why we came up with this series of coffee cup affirmations for Tea & Toast Co. I’m going to take a stab and say that coffee is the 2nd most instagrammed thing behind Kim Kardashian’s rear end, and all of that cup space was just begging for branding that goes beyond a logo and a misspelled name. So I pondered, what would make me smile at the crack of dawn? And it occurred to me, everyone could use a little cheerleading to inspire them for the day. Now you can be reminded of your awesomeness while you sip your daily dose from Tea & Toast Co. (and they’re utterly Instagram-able).

2.    Mexican blankets as upholstery

I’ve never been much for collecting souvenirs when I travel; I usually rely on photographs and memories for that lingering reminder of an adventure; but I love the sense of worldliness and adventure an ethnic fabric or piece of art can bring to a space. This is especially true when the item is used in an unexpected way, so when I was faced with recovering the cushions for our meeting table, I saw the opportunity to find a new use for some Mexican blankets I had. I love the results: playful and perfectly unexpected in the conference room at The McKinley Club.

3.    This cauliflower from yard bird + the larder

I don’t think words can properly describe the decadence that is this Buffalo-style cauliflower. But I will try. Chef Stephen Jones at yard bird + the larder is a magician with vegetables (his hashtag is #VegetablesAreSexy and I couldn’t agree more), but this dish – fried cauliflower tossed in hot sauce and topped with bleu cheese crumbles and pickled celery slices – is particularly mouth-watering.  You’re going be seeing this dish on all of the year-end ‘Best of’ lists.
